Konnyaku has been regarded as a marvellous health food for over 1500 years in Japan! Shirataki noodle is made from what is called “konnyaku potato’ and calcium hydroxide. Shirataki noodle is rich in minerals, very low in calories and absolutely no fat. Calories? Yes, but it is so few in normal quantities that they are negligible in number.
97% of Konnyaku is water and 3% is glucomannan – a special dietary fibre not easy for human to digest. Konnyaku is an ideal food for weight management because it expends in the digestive system and gives you the feeling that your stomach is full. Konnyaku also goes through the intestines and cleans toxins at the same time. It’s long been called a ‘broom for the stomach’ in Japan.
